I'm so glad to be home.

Dear Diary:

Well I got back from my trip earlier today and I did have a wonderful time visiting with family on American Thanksgiving.  Of course I ate way too much turkey [for several days, I might add!] but I enjoyed every minute of it.  Exercise time coming up!

Thanksgiving would not be the same without Black Friday and I did my part in adding to the economy.  I hit the stores about 4am and came home around 5pm.  I think I made my credit card feel loved once more.
I started unloading the car with my purchases and felt I had done really good at picking out the right things for everyone.
Hmmm...this seemed particularly heavy...what did I buy in this bag?
OK...is this everything now?  I had to check it all out to make sure I hadn't forgotten anything.
WOW!!!  I just can't believe I bought that much stuff!  Well, I did get most of my Christmas shopping done and I do feel happy with my choices.  Is this what they call "buyer's remorse"?  No...no remorse here!  I'm just happy I got it all done.

It was a wonderful trip.  It was great being with family; wonderful food; and super shopping!  Wait til next year!  I have my plans all made out.

Good Night for now.

♫♩♩ ♫ Leaving on a Jet Plane ♫♩♩♫

Dear Diary:

By the time you read this, I will be out of the country.  I'm leaving to go to the States for a visit and to celebrate American Thanksgiving.  Mmmmm...can smell the turkey cooking as I'm writing this.

I got to the airport early.  It's always a good idea when you know there's going to be lines of people all waiting to board a flight to somewhere.  I only took two suitcases this year.  One is packed full and the other almost empty.  Well, after all, you need room for all the great bargains that I'm going to buy.
I struggled to get the bags into the airport and hurried to have the big one checked through.  I was worried the other wouldn't fit the measurements for the carry-on but it did.  Whew!  I was happy about that.  Finally I had a chance to relax.
The man next to me was kind enough to move his bag but didn't seem really talkative.  That's OK by me.  Sometimes I just like to people watch.  Soon it was time for boarding anyway and time to go through security.

My passport was ready.
And I was ready for the pat down!

It didn't take long at all and before you knew it, I was on the plane ready for take-off.

So here I am.  All ready for the turkey dinner, shopping on Black Friday and enjoying the holiday with family.

Happy Thanksgiving wishes to all my American friends.  I hope the day is full of fun and food.  See ya in the mall!

Dear Diary, you won't hear from me for a week since I'll be away from you for that length of time.  But don't worry.  I'll have lots of things to tell you when I get home.

Good Night for now.

Not Out of the Blue Yet

Dear Diary:

A few days back I was lamenting the fact that blue was not my favourite colour but I think I'm going to show you another "blue" look with some more of my favs in blue.
I bought this dress almost 2 years ago and have worn it on many occasions.  It's short and sexy but put a jacket on and it can look very tailored.  I like the black binding that criss-crosses on the bodice.  The neckline is very flattering for most shapes.

Truth hair is awesome!  I can't tell you how many styles I have but all of them look good at any time or any place.  Riley is one I wear often and since it has a colour changing headband, it works at ease with different looks.  I like the bouncy curls.  It can look casual but dressy too.

Of course my Bax boots are the ultimate for me.  I love the many options that go with them - sizing of course; slight colour changes; cuff; zipper.

Glow Studio always puts out such wonderful earrings.  I love big chunky jewelry and Glow always provides me with my fix. These Mosiac ones have several colours throughout so they add to a lot of different outfits.

Whew!  This blue thing wasn't as hard as I thought and I had such fun looking through my closet.

Good Night for now.

It's a BLUE Monday!

Dear Diary:

I like to read what others have to say about fashion and furniture, so when I heard the idea of talking about "colour" weeks suggested by Luna Jubilee, I thought, "What a great idea!  A fresh approach to the week!"  This is the second week but I'm getting in on the BLUE challenge.

Blue is not my favourite colour but when I looked in my closet I found a lot of items that I wear quite a bit...and guess what?....they're BLUE!

I decided to start with a casual look, since that's me most of the time and in this picture, I'm wearing lots of blue things but 3 of them are my all-time favs.

First it's my jeans.  I love jeans and have many pairs in my closet as I'm sure most chicks do but these jeans I wear 90% of the time.  They're denim but not the phony denim texture; they look well-worn without looking grungy; and the stitching on the cuff and side looks real.  I totally love these jeans.  Unfortunately you can't buy them any more so I'm looking after these with great care.

Then it's got to be my boots.  These boots are staples in my closet....when in doubt I put them on with everything.  I like the size of the heel - not too high but tapered nicely.  The top has a scrunchy look that looks good with leggings too.  The navy is a good colour because it's not too dark.

Of course, the jacket is a great looking one.  I got this a couple of years ago as a gift but it's so versatile that I wear it a lot.  I love the stud detail on the shoulder.  It gives it a military look.  The collar and sleeve cuffs have a satiny sheen which adds a bit of pizazz to the appearance.  The jacket has a slight swing back and there's a hood attachment too. This is a really well made jacket.

Of course the icing that brings this all together, is the cute top, the cool sunglasses and the blue headband holding back the myriad of curls.  All of these compliment the look.

Yeah...the blue is working for me today.  I think I'll show my favourite blue dress later this week.

Good Night for now.

One Jacket....Two Looks

Dear Diary:

Last weekend I flew to Chicago.  Of course, going through the airport can be a pain in the butt so I just wanted to take carry-on luggage.  That meant...hmmm...make-up, hair stuff, shoes...and oh yeah...room for a few clothes.  I knew we'd be going out so I wanted to take a jacket that could serve many purposes.  My houndstooth jacket fit the description perfectly.

My friend Chloe just got a new apartment with a great view of the Chicago skyline so when she picked me up from the airport, we went directly to her apartment.  It was AWESOME!!  And I still looked put together from the long flight.
I didn't even change or unpack.  We went straight to the stores to shop for some new furniture for her...and a little trinket or two for ME!

That night we went to a great supper club and then dancing after.  My houndstooth jacket covered both casual and dressy occasions quite well. It was warm and cozy and fit right in with all the up-to-date fashions.  It felt good to know that I could mix it with the Chicago crowd.
It was a great weekend so I'm planning on going back soon.

Good Night for now.

It's GREAT to be a Groupie

Dear Diary:

There are so many great designers in this world and they offer so many wonderful creations.  You can go to their stores and shop til you drop.  But besides providing us with unique and awe-inspiring items, they give you prezzies for being in their group.  Over the few years that I've been shopping and decorating, I've been lucky to get some fantastic gifts.
One of the most innovative designers is Sascha Frangelli, the owner of Sascha's, the premier place for formal gowns.  She's always got amazing pieces, whether it's formal, casual or accessories.  Pictured here, is the November gown, a deep cinnamon, velvety texture formal.  It just looks luxurious.  There is a charge for joining Sascha's group now but it's well worth it when you get a free formal gown every month.  The three piece furniture gift has 4 animations in the chair and can be added one at a time.
This is me most of the time so I feel very comfortable in jeans and a tee.  Coco has fabulous group gifts that cover a wide range of clothing and accessories.  All group gifts are available long after the announcement of their arrival so you can go and collect previous offers.  AND there is no charge for joining her group. Her clothing is so well made that I enjoy getting everything she has. Her clothing comes in a variety of layers which makes it a lot easier to work with when adding items on top or underneath.
B! Fashions is the newest group I've joined and I must say that the gifts have been outstanding.  This was the fall gift and it's such a cute little flirty outfit in a sensational pattern.  The mini skirt poofs out and bounces when you walk.  I had to buy the matching boots since it just seemed to be part of the total look.  The jewelry compliments the look as does the short reddish hair. I figured this "Shopaholic chair" was a perfect place for me to sit since I'm sure that's my title in all worlds.

Yes there are great groups to join so if you want to dress like a diva or decorate your house like an interior guru, look for the "join" board when you visit your favourite place.  With the announcement that we may be able to belong to 40 groups  soon, you can certainly become a mega groupie too!

Thanks to all the generous designers who not only design stupendous things for us but who also give free gifts to their loyal customers.

Good Night for now.

I'm the Mad Hatter

Dear Diary:

I love wearing hats!  In all my worlds, I love wearing hats!  Sun hats, baseball hats, berets, newsboy caps, toques - any type of hats at all!  That's why a lot of my hair styles come with oh-so-cool hats!
Milagros is one of my newest hat styles.  The knitted cap has a cute peak over the forehead.  I like the silver deco pin on the side of the cap.  Wispy bangs brush to the side.  Straight hair, on the longer side, falls over the shoulders but has a lot of bounce to it.  This is one of my favourite styles.  Unfortunately the cap or pin don't change colour but black goes with everything anyway.
I first saw "Harriet" at Hair Fair 2010.  I didn't buy it then but went back to the store and picked it up.  The hair is caught in a loose bun at the back with little wisps coming down the nape of the neck.  The bangs are thick and fall just past the eyebrows.  The hat is a cloche type and looks great with some of the winter coats just coming out for the cooler season.  The material on the hat has a tweed look so it's very versatile to wear with other patterns.  It changes to over 10 colours.
This is my favourite knitted "newsboy" cap.  The cable stitch knit has a lot of detail to it and looks hand knitted.  It changes to many colours as does the deco pin on the side.  It has a slight peak and tilts to one side.  The flexi hair falls down the back but has a layered look to it.  This cap can be worn with a jacket and jeans or with a winter dress coat.  It truly is a very adaptable hat.
The bowler gives this a rather campy appearance.  It's only in the black colour but that allows it to go with any colour of coat or suit.   This is one of the more different looks in my hat collection and I think I like it mostly for that reason.  I do like the hair.  It has a tousled look with straight bangs that cover the eyebrows.  The hair frames the face so you can still see facial details and jewelry.

I love my hats.  I have a lot in my collection ...but there's always room for more!

Good Night for now.

I Love a Good Bargain

Dear Diary:

I've often told you that I really love clothes, jewelry, shoes, hair styles and everything that goes with them.  But the Scottish part of me is always looking for a good price.  "Quality and quantity for a bargain", is my motto.  So when I get the urge to buy something new, the first place I go to is The Dressing Room.

Whoever came up with the concept of The Dressing Room was a genius!  I can shop there for all the things that are close to my heart and everything is very reasonably priced.  Not only that, but all items are by excellent designers so you know that it's all well made.  On top of all of these bonuses, the items change regularly so the store always has fresh inventory.  The concept makes good business sense and from the viewpoint of the shopper, it's shopping heaven.  One stop shopping for sure!

Pictured here, are a few things I bought that I just love.
Take a visit to The Dressing Room for some great bargains.

Good Night for now.
