Are you meant to be a Second Lifer?

Dear Diary:

Last Tuesday, Pamela Galli, owner of the fabulous furniture store, La Galleria, whose furniture I absolutely love, posted an interesting article on her blog about personalities and Second Life.  She used the example that people who are attracted to Second Life fit into a certain personality category. She herself is an INFP.  That made me think....what kind of personality am I?? So I just had to take the test, based on Myers-Briggs personality types, myself.
It was just a matter of going to the website and choosing the "yes" or "no" answer most appropriate for you.  It only takes a few minutes and you get the result.
I'm an ENTJ, a person who may not find Second Life interesting enough and yet I do.  The results indicated I am extroverted and intuitive, both which I think describes me.  When I looked into the careers I might pursue, I saw business, computer technology, counseling or the military, none of which I work in.  Basically it proves that we humans are diverse, complicated and intriguing with many likes and dislikes in our make-up.  But the test is fun to take and might give insight into how we are.

It was a fascinating afternoon finding out what kind of personality I have.  [Am I really like Napoleon??]  Read Pamela's interesting blog and find out where you can take the test yourself.

What happened to the sun?

Dear Diary:

Remember I was telling you that I wanted the snow to go away?  Well, it snowed AGAIN!  And the weather turned colder AGAIN!  I'm going a little stir crazy.  I decided I better visit some place that had warm weather, sun and lots of flowers.  I put on a flowery dress, discarded my parka, put on sandals and dug out my summer purse. I picked the SLBotanical Gardens to visit.

When I first walked in the entrance, I found a shady forested area that had a shrub for a chair.

I sat there for a bit watching the water spurt from the water fountain and couldn't resist dipping in my hand.

I sat under an apple tree covered with red apples.

I finally thought I'd better continue since I still had a lot to see. I couldn't resist standing under the Dogwood surrounded by perfect blossoms.

When I finally reached the meditation centre at the top, I was ready to sit in the quietness and rid my mind of the cold and wet and negative thoughts about the weather.

What a great way to recharge myself!

The Sky is Blue!

Dear Diary:

I'm managing to cover 3 important topics today.

1. Today is officially the first day of spring....HURRAY!!!  But why is the snow still here?  Where are the flowers?  Well, I'll wear a spring dress and sandals anyway.

2. I'm participating in the the 52 weeks colour challenge (Sky Blue) and even though I don't usually buy that colour, I managed to find something in the closet that fulfills that fairly well.

And the most important...

3. My heart goes out to the brave people in Japan who show their strength and courage in surviving this harrowing time.  Of course I'm supporting the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser.  Donation boxes can be found in most stores.  I know that giving to the PCR will help but we can also support the Japanese creators in SL.  Their work and designs play a huge part in giving us excellent creative content.  These designers pay particular attention to detail and always add something to our look, on ourselves or in our homes.  So today everything I'm wearing (except for my skin and eyes) is made by a Japanese creator.  Let's keep them producing such great items in SL that will keep us looking beautiful and poised.

Good Night for now.

Wearin' of the Green

Dear Diary:

'Tis Saint Paddy's Day today so of course I had to wear green to celebrate.  I was very lazy getting dressed so after I put on the lingerie, I had to sit on my window seat and stare out the window.

It's a dull rainy day and I'm waiting patiently for spring to come so I can see the flowers in my window boxes.  Of course the rain will wash away some of the snow.  I guess that's a plus.

I noticed the birch doesn't have any buds yet.  They're always a little slower but when they start getting a greeny crown I know that it really is spring.  The elm is still holding on to some fall leaves.  I guess I really am looking forward to spring.

Well, no use wishing the day away.  I need to get dressed in more green, get out the door, and start enjoying the St. Patrick's Day festivities - green beer and sausages!

Hmmm....wonder if I can find a 4-leaf clover under the snow?

Good Night for now.

Umber!

Dear Diary:

I love all shades of brown.  The earthy colours really appeal to me and umber fits right in to that category.   From checking some sources, I learned that umber can fit into a couple of brownish shades.  Raw umber has a sienna touch to it.  Umber to me is more of a dull brown and burnt umber is reddish brown.  I figure this outfit covers it.

Oh My!!! Such Furniture Indecisions!

Dear Diary:

As I've been telling you, I have a wonderful lot overlooking the water, picked a sweet cottage just big enough for me, and now I must furnish it.  And THAT proves to be the hardest thing to do.

I put out some choices for the living room.
I like to have a living room that feels very comfortable so I tend to go with furniture that looks "over stuffed".  The Infinite Living Room has colour changeable furniture so it makes it easy to buy and then change the colour to what you want.  That's the problem!!  The colour choice!!!  I definitely need a desk for my computer and a book shelf for all the books and pictures.  Then there's house plants to fit in with everything.  Yikes!  I'm getting a headache trying to decide.

Moving into the dining room doesn't make it any easier.  Dark wood?  Light wood?  Contemporary?  Classic?  Matching chairs? Complimentary chairs?  Chinese rugs? French aubusson carpets?
Alright!  I quit.  I piled all the furniture in the dining room and I'm going to start over tomorrow.  Decorating a new home is hard work.  Think I'll be like Scarlet O'Hara and  "think about that tomorrow".

Good Night for now.

Today is Shrove Tuesday

Dear Diary:

Yes, today is Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day or Fat Tuesday, whatever you call it in your part of the world.  For me it's Shrove Tuesday.

Historically, It gets its name from the ritual of shriving.  That practice, dating from around 1000 AD, was when faithful church goers confessed their sins to the priest and received forgiveness before Lent.  It also marked the beginning of the 40 day fasting period when one could not eat meat, butter, eggs or milk.  If a family had these items in the house, they must be used before Lent or be spoiled by the time fasting was up.  By adding flour to the items, pancakes were made.  I LOVE pancakes and over-indulged myself today too.

I went to my favourite Internet cafe and had a short stack.  Wow...I usually have pure Maple syrup but the fruit looked pretty good on it.
I just couldn't help it....I needed to stick my finger in the whipped cream.

I like the traditional recipe for pancakes but some people care for crepes more.  I like them both!!

I certainly ate my fill.  Hmmm...now I have to think of what I'll give up for Lent.  I think I've used broccoli once too often!

Good Night for now.

The Elegance of Ecru

Dear Diary:

Ecru is one of those colours that I don't have many words for because I like it so much.  Everytime I wear an ecru dress I feel classy, cultured and clever!  It lends itself to be "girly".  And sometimes I like to dress that way.  But when I looked in my closet, I didn't have a pretty dress to wear sooooo...
Fortunately Mimikri was having a great sale and I hadn't been shopping in a long time.  I picked up this delicate looking dress that I love.  It whispers "Elegance".  When I stepped outside the house, my neighbour asked me where I bought it so I knew it was a hit.  While I was shopping there, I bought the gloves to go with it.  Of course what's a new outfit without shoes?  I think the flower on the shoes from G Field really adds to the look.  Hmmm....then I thought a spectacular hat would be the crowning finish.  Mauve Binder from MB was nice enough to rez a variety of hats for me to look at and I thought this one just went so well with the whole outfit.

It was a satisfying shopping trip for sure.

Good Night for now.

I've made the move!

Dear Diary:

Last week I told you I was looking for a new house.  I found one that I love and totally fits ME.  But I had to move from my old place in a hurry so I didn't have time to clean out the junk I've accumulated in the past few years.  So, that's what I had to do before the furniture could be put in.
It took me forever to look through all the stuff.  I usually talk to myself to make it easier to toss stuff out.  I am a pack rat.  "Oh no!  Can't throw that out.  I bought that book in Grade 10 for Mr. Smith's History class!"  "Let's see...size 2...well maybe I can get into that next year."
I was smiling when I finally got the first load out to the garbage bin.
I didn't realize how many paper items I had to recycle.
YAAAAAY!!!!  Even though the snow was up to my ankles, I was thrilled to get all the old stuff out and to make room for all the new.

Good Night for now.
